Gopichand Malineni announced his new project after the success of Veera Simha Reddy (2023). According to reports, earlier Ravi Teja was set to play the main role, however, the idea was shelved. In the meantime, Sunny Deol was approached for the lead role after Gadar 2 (2023) became a huge success. Later, Malineni made public the June 2024 release date of their film SDGM.
Additionally, Regina Cassandra took part in the SDGM ceremony. However, she officially joined the film on June 21, 2024. Randeep Hooda joined the film in August 2024, as the main female protagonist. At first, Randeep was reluctant to take on a negative role, but at Deol's request, he agreed. Deol explained that Bobby Deol, his brother, also played a villain; despite the fact that Bobby only plays a character, people do not view Bobby as a villain but rather as a character.
